Apple has switched to its new, “foliage” logo
Apple has switched to a new symbol it describes as a “foliage” logo.
The change comes after much speculation in the blogosphere that Apple was preparing a change in its product name.
The new Apple logo is apparently a modern and abstract re-interpretation of the old typeface and symbol. The new symbol, when used with the familiar ‘A’, will appear on iOS, Mac OS, iBooks, and Apple’s apps.
Apple’s original “face” symbol, which was used until the late 1980s, was based on the Greek letter ‘lambda’.
The new “foliage” logo, which the blogosphere believes could refer to the new Mac Pro that Apple is planning to release in the next few weeks, is based on the European shamrock symbol.
